Hotel Angleterre

Very clean but badly in need of an over hall. I asked for a quiet room but was given a room with windows on two sides which was very noisy. It also had street lights just outside so should have had blackout curtains. The information I was give n about the time it would take to w all to the ferry was wildly off the mark. He said 15 mins but it was at least 45 if not longer, very badly lit, and altogether un friendly for pedestrians.

Cant say enough to thank the managers Eunice and Emmanuelle for their welcome - and for the help given when my daughter lost her handbag (successfully found thankfully). Recommend the Angleterre for a few days stay in Cherbourg, a port city which so many travellers pass through rather than go to. Give it a try !

My partner and I stayed at this hotel for 5 days at the beginning of August. It was a booking at midnight as we'd been badly let down by a guest house elsewhere - after a 10hr trip from Kent to Cherbourg. Emmanuel looked after us late that night, and together with Eunice made sure we were okay throughout our stay. The hotel is a 2 star and being redecorated currently, some painting needed. We didn't sample the breakfasts, but the local shops and restaurants are very close by. It can be lively/noisy at night but we found it tolerable. Local people live in the surrounding streets, and you can park for free nearby or a short walk away. We requested a kettle to make our own tea in the morning, and Eunice and co were kind enough to supply a box of tea and some milk at no charge. Our room was small ish but entirely adequate. The double bed was firm, but due to my bad back I was able to use a sofa bed which suited me much better - provided by Emmanuel. The cleaning staff were very friendly too - I can't speak highly enough of the staff. The hotel was good for what we needed and I would recommend it to anyone who is not fussy and not looking for a plush room/experience (go for more stars if you are). We had poor weather, but the local restaurants, Cite de la Mer, museums and harbour made for a great experience for us, and we are so grateful to Emmanuel and Eunice for their great service.

Excellent location for the end of the Fastnet race, lovely staff, some renovations were going on which didn’t impact me and all for a new look. I enjoyed my stay…. Thank you

My friend and I went to this hotel with very little French knowledge but the owner was super sweet and did his best to talk to us. He even unpacked his German skills and always helped us when we needed something. A super sweet hotel with small but cosy rooms where you feel right at home in beautiful surroundings. We couldn't have asked for a better stay!

It was an old and not well cleaned hotel , but the position in great and the staff very nice, the african woman in particular.

Très bon endroit pour un court séjour. Salle de bain excellente. Cela dit l’acoustique n’est pas le top non plus mais reste convenable ! Je n’y étais que pour dormir et il ne m’en fallait pas plus ! Le prix demeurant ultra raisonnable en plus de cela.

À éviter. Avons loués 2 chambres. Les chambres sont restées dans les années 80 pour la décoration, les couloirs sont tous en travaux, papiers déchirés, moquette des escaliers je ne vous en parle pas. Je m'attendais à voir Gordon Ramsay pour l'émission cauchemar à l'hôtel. L'applique de notre lit avec fils visibles, odeur d'égouts dans notre chambre, mais le propriétaire m'a rétorqué que j'étais hyper sensible du nez ! La lumière de la salle de bain qui ne fonctionne pas, mais idem c'était la faute de nos enfants qui y avaient touchés, pardon !? En touchant le magnifique néon , celui- ci c'est allumé, quelle chance !. Surtout ne jamais se remettre en question et reporter la faute sur le client. Télévision qui ne fonctionne pas. À fuir ! Déprimant. Comment peut on avoir un hôtel dans cet état !
